Settings

Every Settings pane, what's in it, and the defaults.

Read Markdown ↗

Open Settings with ⌘, from the palette, the Settings command or the menu bar icon. It's a regular, resizable window.

The search field finds any setting by name, and also by related words that aren't in its title: ocr finds Search text in images and PDFs, and caps lock finds Hyper Key. Choosing a result takes you straight to that setting.

There are 21 panes in four groups.

Permissions

Shows feature permission status, including Accessibility, Calendars and Microphone, and opens the relevant System Settings pane. See Permissions.

Launcher

PaneWhat's in it
ApplicationsSearch Scopes, Enable Applications, and a row per app
System SettingsEnable System Settings, and a row per pane
System ActionsEnable System Actions, and a row per action
CommandsEnable Commands, a row per built-in command, and Custom Commands
QuicklinksQuicklinks switch, its commands, behavior, import and export
FallbacksWhich fallbacks show under a search, and their order

Most rows have a launcher checkbox, a shortcut recorder and an alias field. Long lists have a filter field.

The Enable … switch at the top of a pane turns off every row and every shortcut in it. A row's checkbox only hides that row from search.

Everything here is off by default, except Clipboard and Emoji & Symbols.

Settings file

The opt-in mirror lives at ~/.config/redcast/settings.json for the installed Redcast identity. Enable Settings → Backup → Settings File. The app remains the source of current settings and synchronizes supported keys with this file.

Only keys covered by the settings schema belong here. Credentials and capability-granting switches are not a way to bypass the normal consent flow. For the exhaustive schema and validation rules, see the engineering reference.
