REDCAST HANDBOOK

Extension Store

Browse, install, update and open Raycast extensions from the palette.

Read Markdown ↗

Enable extensions in Settings → Extensions, then run Extension Store from the launcher. The store shows Featured, Popular, Recently Updated, New and category shelves. Type to search the catalog.

Inspect before installing

A row shows the extension's author, downloads and update information. The preview includes its description, commands, categories and a link to its store page. Read the commands and any required accounts before installing.

Return installs an available extension, updates one marked Update, or opens an installed one. Installation uses the same pipeline as Settings; you can still manage extensions there.

Installed and Update badges

A Store installation records the source commit. Update means the catalog or Settings update check found a different version. A folder or GitHub installation without a known Store commit can show Installed without an update comparison.

Update is an extension update, not an application update. Redcast itself is updated from source.

Refresh and offline use

⌘R → Refresh Store reloads the catalog. A local cache can make reopening faster, and older cached results can appear while a refresh happens. A partial network response does not replace a complete cached catalog.

Browsing a cached listing does not mean the install bundle is available offline. Downloading or updating an extension still needs the relevant network access.

Preferences and AI

Many extensions need their own preferences or OAuth login before commands work. Installing extensions covers supported installation sources and package managers; customizing covers commands and refresh behavior.

Extensions using AI.ask or useAI can use your own model after you grant that extension access. Redcast does not provide a Raycast Pro account.

Compatibility

The Store is a catalog, not a guarantee every command works. Redcast implements Raycast APIs inside JavaScriptCore and renders supported UI natively. Check compatibility for gaps, and include the extension name and command in a bug report.

Redcast is a fork of Tinycast by Abue Ammar. Shared guides are adapted under AGPL-3.0-or-later. Documentation source · App source · Report an issue
